Te quiero platicar que estuve en el Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza en Madrid. Este museo tiene cuatro pinturas tuyas:

1. Molino de Agua en Gennep (F0125/JH0525)
2. Paisaje en el Crepúsculo (F0191/JH0762)
3. Barcazas de Carbón (F0438/JH1571)
4. Vista de Vessenots cerca de Auvers (F0797/JH2003)

sin embargo, el 7 de Diciembre de 2003 no tenían en exhibición el cuadro del "Molino de Agua en Gennep". Es una lástima que no lo pude ver, pues recuerdo que escribiste a Theo acerca de este cuadro: "A pesar de que está haciendo mucho frio en estos días, he estado pintando en el exterior, en particular estoy preparando un cuadro muy grande (más de 40 pulgadas) de un viejo molino de agua en Gennep, al otro lado de Eindhoven (T385)". También le comentaste que habias conocido a Anton Kerssemakers "Ayer, traje a casa el cuadro del molino de agua en Gennep, el cual pinté con gran placer, y que además me ha hecho conocer un nuevo amigo en Eindhoven, quien con mucha pasión quiere aprender a pintar, a quien le pagué una visita, después de ponernos de acuerdo para trabajar juntos (T386)"

También recuerdo que comentaste a Theo que te gustaría pintar el cuadro de las "Barcazas de Carbón": "Vi de nuevo la barcaza que te habia comentado con los trabajadores descargando el carbón, en el mismo lugar donde se encuentran las barcazas de arena de las cuales te envié un dibujo. Me parece que es un buen tema para pintar (T526)"

No me dejaron tomar fotografias de los cuadros, por lo que sólo pude comprar algunas postales de ellos. En fin, te envio esta carta para que no pase más tiempo desde mi visita al Museo. "Con un fuerte apretón de manos en el pensamiento"

I want to tell you I visited the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid. This museum has four of your paintings:

1. Water Mill at Gennep (F0125/JH0525)
2. Landscape at Dusk (F0191/JH0762)
3. Coal Barges (F0438/JH1571)
4. View of Vessenots near Auvers (F0797/JH2003)

however, the last December 7, 2003 they have not on exhibition the painting "Water Mill at Gennep". Unfortunately I could not see this painting, because I remember you wrote to Theo about: "Though it has been freezing pretty hard here for the last few days, I am still at work out-of doors, on a rather large study (more than 40 inches) of an old water mill at Gennep, on the other side of Eindhoven (T385)". You told him too you have met Anton Kerssemakers: "Yesterday, I brought home that study of the water mill at Gennep, which I painted with pleasure, and which has procured me a new friend in Eindhoven, who passionately wants to learn to paint, and to whom I paid a visit, after which we set to work at once (T386)"

I also remember you told Theo, that you would like to paint the "Coal Barges": "I saw again today the same coal boat with the workmen unloading it that I told you about before, at the same place as the boats loaded with sand which I sent you the drawing of. It would be a splendid subject (T526)"

As it was forbidden to take photos at the Museum, I only could get some postcards of the paintings. Well, I want to send you this letter today, because it has passed to long since I went to visit the Museum. "With a handshake in thought"
